We have had the Consumers Energy Community Tree Planting Grants in our community for the past 10 years through the Manitou Beach Historic Renovation Society 501c3 non-profit charity.
We have been able to receiving funding and plant over 250 trees at our community schools, parks, cemeteries and roadways in that time. We have just received the 2024 grant application and hope to continue the planting of trees.
Main Street is an especially nice planting of 50 Blaze Autumn Maples, planted over two years when the grants were for 25 trees a year and these replace a tunnel of mature Maples destroyed in the catastrophic Palm Sunday Tornadoes in 1965.
